The Celtica vineyard in Sobótka

The Celtica vineyard is located in the buffer zone of the Ślężański Landscape Park, at the foot of the magical Ślęża Mountain in Sobótka which is located halfway between Wrocław and Wałbrzych.

It is the place of origin of the Celtic tribes, who brought to the area the ability to make wine as early as the 5th century BC. The first written mentions of winemaking in this place come from papal bulls from the 12th century. The plantation was established on the eastern slopes of Mount Ślęża with a south-eastern exposure.

The surroundings of Wrocław is one of the best locations for vineyards. Sabat wine, which is the brand of this vineyard, is produced in Sobótka in the historic building of the Old Municipal Gasworks from 1902, which is unique on a Polish scale. In addition to as many as 12 grape wines, the vineyard also offers a rare blackcurrant wine and multi-fruit Ratafia.

There is peace and quiet here, life goes much slower than in a big city. Away from the hustle and bustle and everyday problems, wine is made, which is one of the treasures of the region in the Celtica vineyard.

During the wine degustation owners talk about the place where they make their wines, the historic gasworks, Mount Ślęża, Sobótka.

They also organize events, tastings and talk about wine-making, the Celtic past, monuments, places of power, witches, volcanoes.

It seems that their wine loves stories! 🙂

Apart from that they are also one of the largest distributor of used barrels in Poland with an annual sales volume of nearly 2000 pieces.

If you’d like to stay overnight there are 5 rooms available with bathrooms in the nicely renovated building of the old gasworks:

-4 double rooms from 13 to 16 m2,

-1 room in the attic, with a roof window, approx. 25 m2, 4 beds, connected to an additional small room with a sofa, armchairs and a TV

All rooms are equipped with a bathroom with a shower, a wardrobe and a table with chairs. There is also a kitchen available for guests (fridge, oven, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, tableware, cutlery, etc.)

Breakfast included in the price of accomodation-few options to choose from including traditional and vegetarian.

All in all interesting place to visit and see/hear what wine is all about from people who possess over 10 years of experience in it.
